2018 SewFun…..

Sew its time to plan and time to sew.  First thing I made was a basket from SweatPea Embroidery Designs.  It was a competition that ran from January 8 – 22nd.  It’s an in-the-hoop project that I had a lot of fun with.  Check out their site and Facebook page for lots of really cool ITH projects and competitions.

Next I started work on some Diva Wallets and a quilt.  Stay tuned to see what they will turn out to be.

Tip:  When doing ITH projects that include applique – always use Applique scissors to trim the pieces this will eliminate the frayed edges that most people do not want.

365 Days to sew!

Hi Everyone:

whats a blog good for if you don’t use it, right!    So I have decided to post as many days as I can in 2018, yup you heard me right.

Theme of course will be sewing related, or at least I will try to stay focused on this topic.    So let’s give this a whirl.

End of 17 on to 2018! What will you sew?

I know I say I will blog more often but I find time slips by so quickly.  Here we are at the end of 2017 and I am wondering how this year passed so slowly yet so quickly.  I did not get to sew as much as I would have liked for so many reasons but I did get a few end of year gifts done.

I managed to make a few small things like an Angel fridge door wrap, a 3D fairy and some Freestanding lace.  I also was lucky enough to work on a few really cool quilts.  In addition I  did a very little bit of charity sewing.

Here are a couple of pictures.

So now I am trying to decide what my 2018 projects would be.  Helen said we will work on a quilt to donate to Baldwin house in Lindsay and Beth’s names.  I also joined a BOM club so will see what that yields.

I am also fixing up my sewing studio so stay tuned for some great pictures as it evolves.  Happy Sewing and Happy New Years everyone!

OESD Sewing Machine

So OESD came out with a 3D Freestanding Lace Sewing Machine.  How exciting is it!!  I very quickly bought the design and began the long process to stitch it out.  Fortunately the instructions are superb and the machine came out perfect.  Quick reminder that with freestanding lace you have to be careful not to wash out all the stabilizer.  Especially in a 3D model.  The needle portion holds up the side end so it needs the most stabilizer.

I was so happy with the results that I went on to make a second…perhaps a third is coming.  Check out how great they are with the lights in them.

First Quilt Show – April 2017

An avid sewer typically making clothing ,handbags and dolls I have joined the ranks of quilters.  While I am not that experienced in this area I have many people encouraging and teaching me more about quilting.

When I moved back to Canada I quickly joined two quilt guilds so I could make some sewing friends.  We all know what an amazing community that sewists are.  Friendly, loyal and above all inclusive.

I have had such fun these past couple of years learning the art of quilting, while still a beginner I was encouraged to put two of my quilts and a couple of my dolls into the Cornwall Quilt Guild show in April of this year.  I was a bit nervous to do so but as you can see they looked terrific in their place.

I also put two dolls, one fairy and two teddy bears into the show for the Christmas section.  Angela (in purple) was the most talked about.  Can you see why, well in any event it was a lot of fun.  I am now looking forward to learning more and hopefully sewing more this year.  Check out the pictures.  Happy Sewing!

Studio 62 – I am back!

Hi Everyone:  Yes it has been over a year since I wrote on the blog.  So many things have changed but the one constant is that I am still sewing and having a lot of fun.  Studio 62 has changed locations and now it is time to post again.  I am going to do a sewing series and will begin with this new bag.

The bag below is made using the 8 inch purse frame.  What I like is the style and size of the bag.  It took a few hours to figure out but once you did it went together quite easily.  I don’t like the inside so am going to rework the pattern.  Stay tuned because once complete I will share with you where you can get it.  Happy Sewing everyone.

Studio62 Update

So today I decided I should get the blog back up and running.  We’ve been really busy in Studio62 this past year.

Our major events are comprised of the doll sewing.  As you know I run BillericaTwirls, a program where people come together to make 18 inch doll clothes and then we raise money to buy the dolls.  Dolls all go to Toys for Tots.  You can learn more by going to http://www.billericatwirls.com.  We are in full swing again this year.

Studio62 is about to launch sewing classes.  I am working on a schedule and types of classes.  If you are interested you should follow the blog.  First class will be in May and we will be making foot stools.  I will post details by mid April with a sample photo.

What kind of classes would you like to see?  Let me know and we will make it happen.  In the meantime enjoy the photo of the Feathered Start Quilt I made from the Hoopsisters pattern.
